Happy Beltane 2021… almost belatedly!

Where has this year gone so far? I’m nearly in tears realising how long it has been since I’ve written. There are no sinister reasons as to why I have been remiss. Quite a few happy ones, actually…

My eldest daughter just gave birth for the first time a month ago. A beautiful, healthy boy she named Alexander [after months of us calling him Oliver!] They are doing well and finally living with her partner/baby daddy.

Another plus is we have all gotten our first Covid jabs. Mind, we do still mask up and I’m not running to the nearest pub for a night out…especially as it is still outdoor drinking and dining for a bit. Still, we are on our way to being better protected than last year this time.

We had some brilliant months on Etsy, selling. That was lovely whilst it lasted but I think they have been fiddling algorithms again so sales are down the plug hole again. Ah well, it’s a good chance to create new things, right?

We have had many blessings this year, and I am mindful to be grateful every day. Still… why do I feel this underlying feeling of sadness?

For one, I am deeply troubled for India and all her people. And more disturbed by other countries dragging their heels about getting aid to them. I guess they never heard “No one is safe until everybody is safe”.

It is also very troubling that some people can’t get their heads around the fact that although many of us are at least half vaccinated, and a lot are fully that they don’t think wearing masks is helpful. No matter how much it is explained as to why, it isn’t sinking in… or, as in some cases, not cared about. I read a news article where a politition said that “What do I care if my neighbour gets Covid? I’m vaccinated!” Clearly, there are some who only look out for number one. But I refer them back to the above paragraph – No one is safe until everybody is safe .

Lastly, it troubles me that so many won’t even consider being vaccinated. From what I have read, richer countries often have a glut of vaccines whilst poorer countries are gasping for vaccines. It has gotten to the point in some countries where you can’t get people in for their jabs because they are taking some political stance against them.. And yet, that country won’t send the vaccines to people quite literally dying for them. What I fear most is some other country getting into the situation that India is in now. And it could happen if everyone is not vaccinated. Because, as I have already said, No one is safe until everybody is safe .

If you have been holding back for any reason other than being told for medical reasons you can’t be vaccinated, please get yours right away. I want everyone healthy and safe because I love you. Happy Beltane x

Longtime reader, so glad to see you back and pleased you’ve got your first jab! Over in France, things are moving much more slowly, sadly. Also, glad you linked to your Etsy shop, I’ve just purchased something. So glad to be able to support you after loving your content for years.

Ah, I’m so pleased you haven’t gotten bored and left! Bless you for your purchase! I am sorry the vaccination process hasn’t gotten off well in France yet. It beggars belief at how everyone cried out for vaccine development and now they are here not many people seem to be in a rush for their jabs. It will always be a source of interest – trying to understand the human psyche, yes? I do hope so much you will be able to receive your jabs soon! And thank you for being such a loyal reader! Many warm blessings to you and please stay safe xx
